How is outer space curved?

I'm in no way a astronomer, but I believe your thinking is about right. without straightness, there can't be curves. But if you look at other dimensions, such as time, there may be a curve from one point to another point. I am not sure how the 4th dimension or 5th dimenion works, but it's something to think about.
