Should I pay my own way?

My boyfriend is a groomsman in a wedding across country and invited me to go. He expects me to pay my own flight and half of the hotel/car expenses. Not that this should matter, but he knows I don't make much money and he does. Does it sound fair to expect me to pay and, if so, for the hotel and car too???
