Miami Ink, Does anybody know?

If the fight between Ami and Kat was real? Because my friend said the producers told Kat that if she lost some weight, she could have her own show (LA Ink) so they staged a fight just so she could move to Hollywood, I mean, it's not completely bogus ya know? Jw though :3 I really wish they didn't fight...it was a sad episode...T^T
