Is Switzerland justified in banning banned the construction of new minarets (towers) on Mosques?

57% of Swiss voters bought the argument that a minaret is a symbol of Moslem political power, not merely a religious symbol, and that Moslems are pressing for Sharia law in Switzerland. Supporters made the argument that there is no religious freedom at all, let alone democracy, in most Moslem countries where the notion of allowing a new Cathedral to be built would never be entertained, let alone be guaranteed as a human right. One voter said, "Moslems insist on their religious freedoms and human rights here in Switzerland but allow them to no one in the lands they control and they would do the same here to us if they could." I think he has a point. It's not like the Roman Church can go build a Cathedral in Mecca, but the Moslems (Saudis specifically) were allowed to build a 30,000 sq. ft. mosque in the Holy CIty of Christendom, complete with minaret. What do you think?
